Chicago police have arrested a woman and accused her of posting video of the rape of an unconscious woman online, as reported by ABC7.
Beth Rae Harris, 36, is alleged to have stood idly by as a 23-year-old woman was raped, going as far as to record video of the incident and posting it to the victim’s Snapchat account, authorities have indicated.
Allegedly, Harris and the unnamed woman were romantic rivals vying for the attention of a “mutual male acquaintance.” Investigators say that on August 24 the pair went out to drink and the alleged victim drank enough to pass out. That’s when Harris struck, letting the “unidentified man or men sexually assault the victim,” police note.
The next morning, the alleged victim woke up naked and sore, she told cops. Harris is said to have informed her “that a man had had sex with [her] while [she] was passed out,” according to DNAinfo. When she got home, the victim alleges, she found that multiple videos had been posted to her Snapchat account.
Prosecutors have seen these videos and say they clearly show the unconscious victim being violated by at least one man. The videos purport to show the victim laying naked as an unidentified man grabs her buttocks and exposes her vagina to the camera. Harris allegedly can be heard narrating the sexual assault, at one point warning the man not to wake the victim.
In addition to the videos showing the sexual assault, prosecutors say there was another video in which Harris could be seen hurling obscenities at the unconscious woman.
The 36-year-old is being held with a $150,000 bail on a charge of nonconsensual dissemination of sexual images. Further charges may be incoming.
According to her public defender, Harris has three children.
